Chili Cheese Dogs

Ingredients

  • 6 All beef jumbo sized hot dogs
  • 6 Hot dog buns
  • 1 tbsp - Canola oil
  • 1 cup - Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 ½ cup - Onions, chopped
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 ½ lb - Ground beef
  • 1 tbsp - Chili powder
  • 1 tsp - Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp - Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp - Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp - Ground cumin
  • ½ tsp - Ground allspice
  • 1 tsp - Salt
  • 1 tsp - Black pepper
  • ½ cup - Tomato sauce
  • 3 tbsp - Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp - Red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp - Worcestershire sauce

Preparation

  1. Preheat your grill at high temperature;
  2. In preheated cast iron skillet or pan, saute the onions and garlic in the canola oil until golden brown, then add the ground beef and cook for 2 to 3 minutes;
  3. Add all the remaining ingredients (except the hot dogs, buns and cheese) and give a good mix; Cook in indirect for 20 minutes with the lid closed;
  4. Place the hot dogs on the hot side of the grate and cook for about 2 to 4  minutes per side; grill the buns if you want;
  5. Place each dog inside a bun and top with chili and cheese.
