Oktoberfest Skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 White potatoes
  • 2 tbsp - Olive oil
  • ½ tbsp - Caraway seeds
  • 4 Thick bacon slices
  • 4 German brats
  • 1 Medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 Red apple, diced
  • ⅓ Red cabbage, diced
  • 1 tbsp - Dijon mustard
  • ½ cup - Sauerkraut
  • 12 oz - German style beer
  • 1 tsp - Freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp - Ground nutmeg

Preparation

  1. Preheat you grill for indirect cooking, having hot coals on one side and nothing on the other;
  2. Combine the diced potatoes, olive oil and caraway seeds in a cast iron skillet and cook in indirect for 30 to 45 minutes;
  3. Grill the bacon and brats over direct heat for about 3 minutes per side; slice them and combine with all the remaining ingredients in the skillet;
  4. Cook in indirect for another 20 minutes.

Suggestion: Perfect side for an Oktoberfest party. Goes well with everything, especially beer and pretzels.
